I recently bought a white 1987 Nissan Maxima out of Georgia. It's a one-owner with brown leather interior and every available option. The car is amazing....everything works including the power antenna. The lady that owned the car bought it new in 87 and traded it in when she turned 87 for a new Honda. It has 53k original miles.

Since buying it, I've had it inspected...all diagnostics checked and the dealership says it's good to go. I had to replace the tires due to dryrot....and I used some Lucas fuel injector cleaner. Before that, the car had been running a little rich but now that's gone. That's about it.

Now the big question....when I start it, it hesitates a little. Once going, the car runs fine for the rest of the day.....should I put a Lucas engine additive in the oil? Has anyone seen luck with this or should I just let it go?

Thanks for your advice! Matt

I have never personally cared for those oil additives. The question is what kind of oil is running now (regular, dyno, synthetic)? It maybe worth it to switch it over to a synthetic now (I suggest mobil 1)

do remember your car is over 20 years old take of it and it will take of you, so it may have little hiccups here and there

oh and post pics, I wanna see it, cause it sounds like a real gem.

Chevron Techron is recommended for hte maximas as it wont negatively impact your injectors. Also make sure you don't have any bad gas in it.
