i just got a new transmission put in about a month ago and slave to go along with it. But just earlier today the clutch just lost all resistance. It just pushes to the floor very easlily and i have to pull it back up with my hand. I saw that there was a leak under the car so i thought that it might be out of clutch fluid. it was a little low so i added more and tried to bleed it but still the same. the guy that worked on my car said it might be a bad slave but has no idea untill he can look at it and he is booked for a while. and this is my only way to work. do you have any idea what it could be? when i got under the car to look at the slave my girlfirend pushed on the clutch and that little thing that moves didnt move much, maybe about a litlle less than a 1/4 of an inch.

if you have already changed your slave cylinder then i would say it is your master cylinder.

ya i think so too... i got it working by turning on the car and pumping the clutch for a while and it works now... but this l morning i had the same problem.... agian after i pumped them for a while it started working agian... the slave was a after market.... do you think that it might just be a bad one, maybe a leak or still think its the master?

Thanks, Chris

Hello guys,

A few days ago my car started having the same problem as you guys are discussing, i'm hoping I can get some help. I have a 1993 Nissan 240sx, and when I press the clutch to the floor it does not spring back (there is 0 resistence), and I have to pull it up with my hand.

I thought that a spring may have been broken, but i looked underneath the clutch pedal and did not see a broken spring, the metal rod just goes straight into the car.

What do you think I should do? My friend said that I should possibly pour in some clutch fluid, do you think that's right? If so, where would I find out where this flouid should go , can I do it myself?

Thanks very much!!

Mike

this is do to the fact that you have a small leak through one of the seals in the master cylinder. so you are pumping up the pressure faster than the leak releases it.

so you ask:

ok...i replaced the master cylinder for the clutch and there is no difference.... i think the old one ( which looks new ) was ok because it is still pumping good... so i might put the old one in and take the new one back...what do you think? and what else could the problem be? maybe the pressure plate?

ok, it works fine now.... i had the right idea with changing out the master cylinder (m.c) for the clutch...but when i thried to bleed it i did it below at the slave...what they did was loosen the nut where the line connects to the m.c. then pump the clutch for awhile to bleed all the air out adding more fluid if it got low... tighten back when done and now its better that B4...
