Not too many threads on 87s , but I'll give this question a shot. I need to replace the fuel temp sensor that is screwed in the the fuel pressure regulator. Nissan service manual says to replace the regulator assembly which contains the fuel temp sensor . It is only available and sold as an assembly at the dealership. The 300 ZX uses the same temp senor mounted on the fuel rail, which is available separately at the dealership. Anyone know of a problem of just replacing the temp sensor on the regulator? I can't think of any technical reason?

I think this may be listed in the service manual: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM.

If not sorry.

I have no experience with the 2nd Gen Maxima. Our FSMs cover 3rd Gen and beyond only. But if you are positive the Fuel Temp Sensor in the 300ZX is identical with that in the 87 Maxima FPR, then go for it. But if you have doubts, you might as well buy the FPR with Fuel Temp Sensor. I've seen Bosch FPR for @ $67 while other brands sell for @ $30.
