I found this Z, pictures attached. If mods could delete this thread I'd appreciate it. There's a ton of forums here and I didn't see the classic one.

The car--

She's got 166k miles. Engine runs great, and so does the transmission. Very smooth shifting. The lady who owns it was asking $2500 obo ... but then I opened up the hatch and looked underneath the mat and found this...

My heart sank when I saw it.... This thing has got a t-top and only averaging 600 miles/month since it was built.

Other things I noticed. It has aftermarket things built into it. Apparently the person who owned it before this lady bought it ten years ago didn't quite know what he was doing....

Struts are going to need replacing. The front left might have a ball joint or tie rod that needs replaced--the alignment is giving pretty bad wear on that side.

There's oxidation that you can see in the pictures below.

The frame/body are straight, and there's no real DAMAGE to the car that is visible. Aside from the oxidation it looks damned good. The interior isn't even that bad, either. I'm really debating buying it... but I need to know if its worth $2k.

um.... so you are ok with the "stuff" added to the exterior? $2500 is on the high side miled up n/a but it's getting harder and harder to find no wrecked non rusted non ragged Z31's

as for the "oxidation" if it's rusted through you might want to pass, if it's all just surface rust invest in some POR15

Rust looks pretty bad in the hatch.I've seen them that bad before where it wasn't as bad as it looked, but I'd check it over really carefully before I bought. I see two places that look like they might have serious rust holes. I'd (with the owner's permission) pull out the interior in the whole hatch area. Spare tire well is probably rusted out. The taillights and/or triangle windows are leaking.

If it wasn't for the Testarossa confusion, it'd be a good looking car. It also isn't the worst testarossa-sided Z31 I've ever seen (unfortunately). $2500 is more then I would pay for it, NAs are more in the $1500 range unless they are really clean.

$2500 is a bit high with that much rust that's easily visible. You may also want to look underneath, particularly where the seats mount to the body. If there is any rust there, run away. If there's no more rust, I'd offer around $1000. Personal opinion is it's not worth much more than that in the shape it's in.
