1986 Nissan Pulsar NX

My rear light fuse keeps blowing. I didn't notice when it blew the first time, but this time it blew right as I shifted from third to fourth. Is there anything specific I should try before I just have the mechanic check the wiring? I've been running into random problems like this (and my dash lights coming on when I brake, even when the fuse is blown), that lead me to believe I either have some crossed wires, or shorted ones or something...

Any Ideas?
