Hey guys I have a 1986 nissan 720 stock engine and transmission rwd manual transmission. I was wondering if anyone know where I could possible buy a short shifter and some bucket seats without any fabrication or anything. I was also looking to get a knew quick release or something similar; I have lecarra steering wheel but that thing is trash. All help is needed. Thank you guys :)

720guy4life,

Welcome aboard, and sorry for the delayed salutation - Chapter 2 is kicking my butt nd taking all my time.

First I apologize as I am not to knowledgeable on the 720 and its Z series engine. But for the short shift kit, have you looked at something from the 280Z/ZX? The most successful/least desirable (ZX with auto) are readily available and maybe compatible with no modifications necessary. Worse case would be to do a 720 to 280 series transmission swap.

As far as changing from bench to bucket seat, some modification will be necessary as you will have to drill holes for new seat rails. An option is to go with late model bucket seats from a 280 series Z or other period Datsun. I'd check you local savage yards or craigslist for part. I would also make it an all or nothing deal - so seat rails, mounting hardware, levers, covers, and of course the seats. Might be hard pressed to source other items in a short period of time.

Be advised the seat rail my come in two heights - one for the inside/higher up on the transmission tunnel and short and one for the outside lower down on the floor board and therefore higher.
