i have a 1986 nissan 720 regular cab 2wd with the z24 motor and i want to swap out the motor to something more powerful and i was thinking an rb20det http://www.nicoclub.com/forums...h.gif anyone have anyideas if this would even fit without major fabrication and any other ideas on swaps would be great

well im not sure it would fit the garage miniz 720 has an rb25 and they had to bring the firewall so far back that they had to relocate the seats in the extra cab

oh really do you know if the sr20det would fit alot better then

One of the easiest swaps if to install the L28, L28E or the L28ET. Its not as much conversion as swapping for a SR20DET or RB20DET, which usually entails custom mounts (both engine and tranny), cutting of the fire wall or its relocation, changing f the instruments for something compatible. With the L28 just the engine mounts need to be adjusted and run the engine fan-less. With the L28E or ET, fuel delivery and regulation needs to be addressed. You may be able to use the Z24 tranny with the L28 but I'm not sure.

hmmm well what about a turbo KA24 would that have significant power boost with little modification or is the L28det still the best for it?
