Production date: 3/86

329000kms on body

Engine was apparently rebuilt 1.5 years ago (have no info or documentation of this).

No CELs.

Problems: Engine runs very very rich, averaging maybe 14mpg city. Idles high, ~1500-1100rpm (doesn't like to be any lower, otherwise engine shudders). Timing is fully advanced (any less and it lopes badly). Torque convertor seems to be staying locked up (when put in gear idle drops from ~1500 to ~1000, brakes must be depressed pretty far to keep the truck from moving forward...is there a plug on the transmission for the lock-up solenoid?).

I've already replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and O2 sensor hoping it would help...it didn't. All vacuum hoses appear to be good and all connectors seem to be plugged in.

Also, what is the ON-OFF switch for on the ECU?

Please help, this fuel economy is brutal!

Any luck on your issues. My 86 z24i is running the same way...will not idle below ~1100 rpm.

well the on off on your ecu is for when you take it in to a shop, and run it on their computer, it turns your computer off and lets it run on theirs so they can figure out the problem. on my nissan i had the computer get fried, the fuel pump whines when you turn the key on, but ac/lights/gauges don't work when i turn it on. the engine won't turn over either. i helped you. see if you can help me :D
