PU has VG30i engine.Turn hard right or left while passing over bump or depressionand a loud noise emits from the area of the wheel going over the bump.It's a stress type noise. not really a grinding. Like maybe the shock is being stresssed

I know this is sort of vague, but hope it sounds familiar to someone.

All comments and suggestions appreciated.

Steering stops maybe. Get under the truck and put a dab of grease on them and see if the noise persists.

Another possibility is loos bolts on the steering crossmember (the one that lines up with the front of the LCA mounts. Torque those down good as well.

Thank DR

I was glad to hear that this is probably a simple fix.

What is LCA mount?

LCA = Lower Control Arm

You should also check the tension rod that attaches to the Lower Control Arm and runs up to a bracket on the front portion of the frame. Also check the front stabilizer and it's end links. The rubber bushings on these 2 items may need to be replaced.

See attached image.

I scanned it from my own Haynes manual.

You just gotta know where to look...mind you I have been a Nissan trucks guy for 12 years so I know that manual pretty well.
