3.0 block with 3.3 parts on it.. will it work?

If you are talking about swapping the 3.3 heads over then, yes, it is possible. There are a few hiccups, but there are documented solutions out there and it's a well regarded way to get 10% increase in displacement. You have to bring the 3.0 cams over to the 3.3 heads and the selection of performance pistons for the 3.3 motor is pretty small (or you might have to get them custom made.) There are some other fitment issues and such depending on what year donor engine you have, but ways around them. It's not a bolt on and go swap, but a lot easier than putting a Z32 motor in or something. You should be able to find some decent writeups and info on the swap if you google it.

Dont forget to use the pathfinder intake manifold, I heard it flows a bit better.

I heard that the flow differences between the S12 manifold and the Pathfinder were negligible, actually. The main difference being that the Pathfinder manifold is more equal length and therefore more suited to make high end power...
