I'm a regular member of club-s12.org. members there refers this site to me. So here is an exact copy of what I've posted there.

allright, I have a some problems that maybe some of the mechanics here can tackle.

My transmission has a "tug" when I shift from 1st to 2nd. It's hard to find the gear when heel-toe from 3rd to 2nd (maybe it just my unrefined technique, but 4th to 3rd is OK, no problem at all). It kinda hard to shift from 1st to 2nd; it's the best way to explain the "tug" I guess. it feels like the gears will clash/grind, but no grinding sounds at all. just a little "tug" then it would go in gear. It really hard to explain it by words, since the best way to know the problem is by driving the car. It is similar w/ the problem I have before the clutch replacement, the exact same one, I believe. the 1st and 2nd was hard to shift, espc to 1st after a stop. This "tugging" problem would come and go, but it most noticeable when it's cold or just pulled out of the driveway.

It was really smooth after I got my clutch replace, but now the symptomps are back (it comes back after my 2nd touge run this month). I've change the transmission fluid and rear diff fluid, I think I have no problem w/ clutch free play. Clutch master cylinder fluid is full, no leaks (from what I can find on the ground). I have a new clutch assembly, installed by NISSAN dealer. It shift better if I slow shift it or double clutch.

My guess it would be the clutch needs some adjustment again (still under warranty and will be for the next 2 years/20k km). I'm hoping nothing wrong w/ the master + slave cylinder and the syncros + gears it self.

This car sees a lot of shifting from 1st to 2nd (duh...). It's a DD w/ a lot of stop and go driving + short distance. I just used it for touge recently (I own it for a bout 1 month now). It has been mostly city driven for the past 5 years. The guy I bought it from live like 10 min from his office and in the summer he rides his motorbike.

IF I have to replace the transmission, will "C" series out of Z31 and the later S12 fit? or is there any other nissan transmission that will fit S12? I have MK1 (1985), so it has "B" transmission. Chilton's said alot of possible thing, but it's kinda hard to check all of those possiblities one by one.

So yeah..this thing is really big ticket item if it goes wrong (there goes my mod money...). I don't care about the heel-toe right now. NO point in doing it if my transmission is not working properly (no touge for now). So, any help is appriciated.

Some info on the car:- brand new clutch assembly- stock mechanical stuffs- less than 60k Miles

I suppose without actually driving the problem, itd be hard to tell if its a clutch problem or a trans related problem...

Its easiest to check your clutch adjustment.. maybe its not disengaging enough...

im seeing that your car has the FS5W71B trans, so id think any of the other ones that use that trans, should be fine...

Call me what you like, im just not a fan of people posting up questions and not getting a reasonable reply... Getting a reply to "search" doesnt do it for me, unless there was no effort at all to find any information. I take pride in "my" forums....
