I want to swap in a later model year 2.4 nissan engine Ka24 or Ka24E, but I want to use the carburetor (Weber 32/36) that I have.

I've read the intake from the Z24 in my 1985 will bolt on some Nissan 2.4 engines.

What I need to know is what model year engines I can use to swap into this truck.

The current Z24 continually blows head gaskets. I had the head re-surfaced and it still will only run a couple months...

What year(s) 2.4 can I use?

I also believe all the Nissan truck motors will bolt up to the current 1985 transmission that I have.

Fabricating motor mounts is not an issue...

thanks!

Theoretically, any engine from the 1980 to 1986 would fit in. I'm also pretty sure the Hardbody base engine (the same one that was used as the top of the line on the 720) would fit in there. The only thing if you went with a Hardbody engine would be converting it from EFI to Carb.

Hi if you swap to the KA24 engine from early 90's D21 ( hardbody ) keep it fuel injected, you will be much father ahead, you will need to add an other high presure electric fuel pump and wire a relay for it.

The 2.4 that is talked about is the Z24i (the EFI Z24). It's in the late 720s and hardbodys through 89. Basically, it's the same engine except with EFI and slightly higher compression (8.8:1 instead of 8.4:1 if I remember my numbers right).

The Ka24E/DE are completely different on the intake side from the Z24s; they have 2 intake valves per cylinder and a totally different intake port shape. Either one would physically bolt into your truck and transmission (assuming you get a truck one with the right sump/pan, not a 240sx engine), but the downdraft setup won't work on it. There is supposed to be a factory carbed version of the Ka24 outside the US, but I haven't ever found one of the manifolds. All the carb conversions I've seen for Ka24s used dual DCOEs are were usually buit race engines.
