1985 720 Gas Tank into 1986.5 FI Hardbody?

I've drove my hardbody around for two years with the seam around the gas tank leaking. I cannot find a good used tank. A friend of mine has one from a '85 720 that is perfect for free. Will it swap and accept my sending unit and electric fuel pump assembly? If it won't accept my electric fuel pump, how can I hook up the sending unit? I can put a external pump on the frame if I have to.
