I have an 85 300ZX that use to start about a couple months ago, but now won't.
Trying to figure out why it stopped.

I have consulted a few friends and they suggested to spary starter fluid in the air intake valve, however the valve is not connect by a rubber hose like cars today, it's a hard tube that seems as it doesn't want to move.

How can I figure out if i have old gas or something else.

The car will turn over it will just not start

if you try starter fluid you'll want to disconnect the inlet piping fomr the throttle body, hold the throttle open, spray it in, release the throttle and plase the inlet pipe back on before turnign the key

as for diagnosign it would help if e knoe exactly what happens hen you turn the key, does the car crank and sound normal?

the next logical step ill be to check the ecu for codes

I got the Z to start. There were 2 wires going to the throttle position sensor that were not connected due to old age. I replaced the wires, sprayed a little starter fluid in the intake valve and PRESTO
