stock the n/a came with 160 hp at the crank, about 120 at the wheel, the most I've heard of an n/a getting was every bolt on available was 160 whp, keep in mind that you're talking about a 3200 lb car so while're we're talking about an increase of 30% more power att eh wheels it's still not gonna keep up with a lot of modern cars, nitrous is fun and gets you power on demand but yoiu gotta keep refilling the bottle and if you go lean you bought a new motor, the turbo swap is the best bang for thebuck, my Z31 is still a stock block and made 315 whp and 416 lbft of torque, so it just depends on how much of an improvemetn you want and how much time trouble and money you're willing to out into it

An 85 NA 2 seater probably barely weighs over 3000 lbs with a driver. My bone stock 200,000 mile NA put down 135hp on the dyno.

Don't worry about making an NA fast unless you want to boost it or throw on a bottle of nitrous. But you can make it handle and stop significantly better for not a ton of money.

whats this?? AZ_Zbub you suprise me, I figured you'd know the curb weight or at least have it n your site? the ZCCA lists it as 3080 but of course ther various modes will very greatly, the GLL has lots of extra insulation and metal, and of course the turbo adds the weight of a turbo and cast DP, that published weight seems low, especially to think that the lat S30's were north of 2800lbs, anyhow, the GVWR inside the door minus 5-600 lbs should be pretty close

and different dyno's will give different readings, we just had a dyno day and a local stock save for cone air filter and muffler put 180 wwhp on a mustang dyno, but it's in the ballparkI'll have to weight mine siometime, I'm hoping to have it in the 2500lb range

the main thing to do for the vg motor is keeping it cool. ive gained alot of horse power creating my own intake and my buddy has made his own hood scoop. gained about 10 horses. i alos heard takeing the ac compressor of gains you about another 7 horses. because of the less strain on the motor. Welcome to Z nation as well.

If the a/c isn't running, there won't be any noticeable power loss. Only when the a/c compressor is turned on will it drain power. Taking it off will remove a lot of weight from the car but there aren't any actual power gains to be had from doing that.

I would LOVE to see the actual dyno comparisons of these mods. Because until you show any dyno chart, I'm calling pure BULL**** on the actual number. I'd be surprised if it was more than about 3 or 4hp.

The 7hp number on the AC is with it turned off vs with it turned on. And you can thank me and the TechnoDyne for that number.
