Hi folks,This is my first visit here and I hope someone can help point me in the right direction with a troubled Stanza.

This nice old lady at my church has an '84 Stanza sedan, 2.0l twin spark engine, atx trans, and the car is having some drivability issues, mostly bucking and jerking during acceleration.I've done a basic parts-replacement tune up:plugs (NGK BCPR5's and 6's)air filtercaprotorMany of those parts appeared to be original 100k mile equipment so they were overdue for a change. The plug wires all look good. Nothing else visable appears to be broken though I can;t see everything.Problem is the car still runs rather poorly.I haven't checked timing or anything yet so that's next but does anyone here have a clue as to what else to look for as far as a possible cause for this problem?

She's on a really tight budget and so were trying to fix this car for her through volunteering and donation time/labor/parts.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

gtrdave,Welcome to NICO. I think this is a great idea helping people from your church.

Your list of items you replaced during the tune up looks good. I would suggest,1. Checking the transmission fluid.2. Replacing the Fuel Filter3. Testing the battery (most likely old)4. Check fuel injectors

Thanks for the reply. The car does need some other work (front axles as the CV boots are ripped, exhaust from the rear of the cat and back is rotted, brakes need maintenance) but all of the fluids are up and clean.Still, the thing bucks and jerks as if it's got some major fuel or spark issue...or both.

It idles very smooth but once in gear and under a load, trouble starts.

Is there anything else I should be looking for that coulbe be bad? O2 sensor? Timing? Fuel pump?

I'll check the injectors and fuel filter, too.
