'Auto Air Conditioning' is in the vehicle. There is a loud noise coming from the engine compartment when the air is on. It can best be described as what one hears when you blow up a balloon, remove the opening from your mouth and hold it only tight enough to slowly let air release. I think it is the diaphragm in the "fast idle actuator". I would like to start by replacing it but so far have been unable to source it. Part# 16487-01L15. Can anyone help? Thx.

Good late night evening. To start I would like to apologize for the fact that you have the oh so much terrible Auto Air in your ZX. I have the Manual Air in my 83 2+2 Turbo. I haven't had the fast idle actuator act up before and my car has been in super dry Arizona it's whole life. I would double check to make sure you don't have a hose that is connected to the fast idle actuator that is leaking. I'll do some searching myself too see if I can come up with something as well. Would you believe that I found a rotting ZX in a salvage yard here in South Jersey. After fighting to get the hood up, there it was - a battered FICD Actuator. It cost me eight bucks and works like a charm. I was pressed for time but will return to pull whatever else I might need. Can you believe it?

Glad too here that is worked for you. Honestly being back east and next to the Atlantic I'm not surprised. I've heard how the old z cars would not because of poor evacuation holes for the water. One of the people I know out here has one from Indiana and it's falling appart as well.
