1982 720 datsun help!!
1982 720 datsun help!!
Hey guys, just recently bought my truck and not the most experienced mechanic. when i flip the key no sound from then engine at all besides the fuel pump of course. I believe it has something to do with the starter possibly not working. It was odd because it drove fine yesterday no problems then parked it for a few hours and then went to start it again and that's what happened. Any tips or ideas to help me out will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

My 82 has a mechanical fuel pump. You sure yours is electrical?
I'm not denying it may have been swapped to an electrical but stock is mechinical. On my truck anyway.

I should add that when my starter acts up, its a slow turn on the engine. I happens when I drive it awhile. Starter motor get warm and stops working.

Well when the key is on accessories there is a ticking, i know its the fuel pump but i do not know if its electric or not. But i got a tip from a friend to bang on my starter with a hammer and it freed it up and it now wants to start but then gets jammed again.
