1980 datsun pickup

Hey guys i have a 1980 datsun pickup 720 with L20. the throttle is sticking. so i cleaned the carb and bought a new throttle cable. it sticks less but still does. so i put a spring to pull the throttle back but that didnt work now im looking for a stock carb for it. i would put a weber carb on but i live in cali and it wont pass smog with it on. ill put some picks on later its a nice looking 720

Try disconnecting the throttle linkage so you just have the carb with nothing connected. Operate the throttle at the carb by hand and if you still get the sticking then you need to refurbish/rebuild the carb. I bet the problem is in the carb itself.

actually not a whole lot of people know this but you can use a webber on a 80 720 with the L20B, also you can use it on the Z22. i was doing a little research on the CARB site and thats what i found. you can have a look yourself if you'd like. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/d ... mquery.php

that one is a right to the carbs that are legal.
