I'm new to this chat room. I need some info about the audio system in the 10th anniversary edition. There are two Hitachi components (a pre-amp and a crossover?) installed beneath the driver's seat. Some years ago, the signal started cutting out, intermittently. I believe, but am not sure, that the preamp and/or crossover are at fault here. Took the Hitachi items into Stereo King, and they had no clue.

So, does anybody know about this system? I would like to remove the radio/tape player unit from the console to check the whole system out, but I need some advice on how to get it out. If the HItachi units are bad and cannot be replaced, is there an alternative I can install, keeping the OEM radio/tape player?

(Also, I'm curious why the 280ZX does not have its own forum, but this should be a separate posting.)

It's really not all that hard to start from scratch. Just ignore the old stuff and run your own wires. All things audio have gotten much less complicated in the last 40 years...
