Just so I don't start clogging the other forums with questions about "our" cars, I wanted to make a thread about the S110. Anyone find any mods for the Z20E or the Z22E? Styling components? Restoration stories? Seeing as how only a few of us have these cars, there probably won't be alot of posts, but I figure "something" is better than "nothing"

Hi there, All I have to say is I have one of them and I'ts being restored better than new I live at mexico city Mex. I'm 22 YO and I've driven this car since1995 it's still being pretty cool for being my first car tough, but well recently got out the body shop with a fresh sikkens paint job and waiting for electric tuneup, mecanically it has been almost totally restored (exceptions are the 5 speed manual transmission ) but it doesn't need a tune up yet. it works very silent and shifts pretty easily. it has j18 engine from factory, not as powerfull as z20.z22 series but has loads of torque (at least) jejehere's a front píc of my ship so check it out,

Hi, THanks I didn't know you had a cardomain too. I've just checked some s110's at cardomain but there are just about 5 or 6 maybe. but maybe I've already seen yours, sincerely I don't remember.

I have an 80' 200sx HT. starting the mods now. Looking to do front seat swap.... the original seats died a long time ago...

If anyone's been successful with swapping seats from a newer nissan, or other manufacturer?

Do I have to stay in the years, 1980-83?

Can use the original seat brackets? Or Do I need to purchase a universal seat bracket?

Thanks

I have some wedge engineering brackets to fit recaros, I'll take some picsfor you, I haven't used them yet though but I have some seats I plan onswapping in. it will atleast give you an idea of what your bracket shouldlook like if you decide to fab one. you could probably modify a stock one...

post up a couple pics of your car man, and welcome to nico!

Hi I recently purchased a 1980 200sx Hatch, and I was wondering if anyone who's in/been in the know about them knew a good place to get replacement tail lights? Also, I was wondering if anyone has had problems changing the brake pads, specifically the caliper falling apart when you try to open the piston to put new pads in. Another question I had was, are there any reasonably easy mods to put different rotors/calipers from similar year datsuns/nissans on the car i.e. 280zx brakes and whatnot?

Thanks a lot guys! -Ben

Amazed to see Ville's s110!!!! I have seen 10 240RS's in my life and never the s110.

But anyway, I have a 240RS myself and in need of a steering wheel hub for momo or sparco. I can get one for a 200sx 77-79, or for 84+ models. My guess is that the s110 is just in the middle of those. So the question is whether the steering column is more similar to the older models, or the newer. All help would be great!! Thanks!John, Belgium

i'm also an owner of a s110 5 spd that ws my first car in 1992 its been stored for almost 10 cause i bough another car and then i also decided to built a 240sx/se20det that i sold later

but back to the topic back then i found headers that were made by pacesetter and cstom made an exhaust using flowmaster mufflers and later switch to a k&n replacement filter since mine came without power windows i use the one from the coupe ans also switched differentials cause i was told the automatic ones were have higher gear ratios.

But the ost important thing i want to mention is that back in 1995 or something like that on the first few issues on Sport Compact Car magazine they were custom building a 1982 200sx using a turbo from a svt mustang or something like that apparently they dropped the project cause they couldn't compensate for running lean but to be honest i don't remember all the details

i'm also want to know any info as to swap engine preferably an sr20det or even a ka24de please let me now

no lsd has a solid axle in the rear and the lsd they made for it got discontinued last year......anything under 500 I would say is a good deal....depends on your area if it has rust things of this nature....the body is incredibly hard to find parts for so keep this in mind when you get it.....and yes the sr20 will fit, so will the ka, I saw a guy with a vg30et you can fit most of the nissan motors in it without too much problems....I know that the ka and the sr20 have the same mounts though so they should be a relatively easy swap and suspension is about outdated as hell I would recommend doing what I am doing now....get a rear cradle and a full s13 suspension and convert it to independent suspension that way it becomes easily modifiable later and you can swap up the lsd with ease if need be

oh and you should be able to pick up a full s13 suspension for right around 300 bucks used....I think I got mine for about 250 but still I say 300 to be on the safe side

so not to be repetitive, but its a direct bolt in to the existing mounts?!

the good thing about nissans is over the years the motor mounts have pretty much stayed the same....ne motor will just about bolt in, sr, ka, vg.....the biggest issue you are gonna have is the wiring....which if you know a little you can overcome

as for the suspension there is quite a bit of fab work involved....another option is swapping the s12 suspension....it is independent and its almost a direct swap into the s110....may be a better route....the only thing about the s13 is you will have to measure and figure out where to mount everything and get a rear cradle to hold everything in.....but its really up to you how involved you want to get in the whole project

hell, three of the families have VERY similar blocks (L, Z and KA)

I'm assuming that with the S110, it's like the S12 and you have to weld in new rear shock towers?

what about the front end, can you frankenstein S13 spindles and coilovers on it like you can an S12?

the biggest benefit I can see from an S12 or Z31 rear end would be the ease of getting a LSD to put in it.

(they're both R200 rear ends with a trailing arm IRS set up)

i like to spend a lot of time on the road courses so the biggest thing for me would be the independent suspension and the ease of getting good coilovers

well its not as easy as swapping the s12 spindles I do believe there is some fab work involved in mounting everything welding in some plates and what not....but I would really love to swap the lsd and interchange if necessary....thats why I am working on the project....I will post some pics up next week when I get it started

Hey guys. I'm definitely excited to find a group of S110 owners. This vehicle is so hard to find information on! But, I am kind of in love with its lines, especially in the form of a 240RS.

I am looking into buying one of these. I have a clue as to where to get one of these, fairly clean, with only 100k mi on it. I want to turn it into a project.

However, I am unsure as to what kind of parts to use, particularly in terms of suspension and all that. I found a site which cited that KYB makes GR2 shocks for the rear, and when I searched for the parts number, it came up with Mazda RX7 (FC3S) rear shocks - so I am curious as to whether or not the rear set up is compatible with FC suspension. This would be great, seeing as how aftermarket manufacturers are still producing high end performance parts for the RX7.

But that's all I know. Does anyone have any information as to where I could research the kind of improvements / replacements that can be installed on the S110 chassis? Is it at all compatible with parts from the Datsun 240SX S30 chassis? (I read somewhere that it shared similar parts with "Z-Cars")

What about engine parts or swaps? Does anyone know of any existing projects that have something other than a Z or FJ engine in an S110? I would be particularly interested in investigating the possibilities of installing an SR20DE or CA18DE/T in an S110.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Dude! If you are seriously going to go through with the VQ install, KEEP US POSTED! That would be insane. I am really interested in how you'd go through with it.

What other goodies are you considering? I am really interested in suspension mods, right now. As mentioned earlier, I really would like to look into an SR20 install, but I wouldnt know where to start! Maybe we should get some serious discussion on performance modifications on the S110 chassis!

What have you concluded about the mounting points for the SR20 block? I think that may be the route I would go if I pick up this S110. Though, I am new to this whole modifying-cars thing, so I was wondering how you'd go about it? (i.e., using parts from a S13, etc.)
