1978 Datsun 510?? can someone tell me more about the reintroduced 78-79 510s? from what i know it came with an updated, race detuned, L20B engine. regarding the chassis frame, any differences? with the earlier models, does anyone know about engine swapping (particularly the ka24de) onto these late model 510s? i hear it is a bolt on process, but i may be wrong.

regarding the ka24de, will the engine and tranny bolt on without modifying the crossmember? i read up on one of the fanpages from an austrailian website and he bolted on an sr20 and tranny without modifications! if that is so, then the ka should fit on the 200B wagon, am i correct?

i'm talkign about front grill, bumpers, head/tail lamps. i dont think the taillamps would do, but everything else should.

the front bumper on a 78 has integrated turn signals, so that's gonna be a problem.

No external parts of a '78 510 (your 200B) are interchangable with the 68-73 510 (neee: 1600). Datsun/Nissan's reuse of the 510 name was a disservice. The car was generally regarded as fine for what it was, but it certainly was only ordinary for the time.

KAs nor SRs "bolt in" to the 510 chassis, early or late. It most certainly can be done, but it is not an afternoon engine swap.

Your link is borked.

nismo510, you're giving me high hopes >_< . i own a deserving 96' 240sx that needs a better performing engine, so i'm gonna head to an sr20det or an rb20det soon. as for my ka on my 240sx, i plan on bringing it over to my 510, but i was wondering if emissions are gonna be a big problem here

If you can smog a 240 with an engin never designed for us emitions in the 240 then why would the KA be a problem in the 510?
