We just purchased a 1978 280Z that has been sitting in a garage for over 20 years. We have worked at getting the cylinders moving. The first compression test basically they didn't move, was a zero on all cylinders. After several days they were were reading
1 -110
2 -152
3 -122
4-149
5-92
6-60
After sitting for a few week, the latest test they are all ranging between 95 to 100. Considering the engine isn't turning over yet, hasn't been started in over 20 years, should we be concerned at the low compression reading, at this point?

We have removed all of the old fluids, had the gas tank cleaned, put in new fuel filter, oil filter, air filter and put in a new fuel pump and fuel damper. The little car still wouldn't start, although it sounded like it wanted to, it would start and then die. We noticed the air intake hose had some cracks in it, so we have a new one on order. We're hoping once we have the intake hose replaced, we can get the car running. We haven't tackled the fuel injectors yet. Most likely, we will find a mechanic to help with that. We've done a frame up restoration on a 1950 MG TD, but have never worked on a Japanese car or fuel injectors.

Thanks for any knowledge you will share,
Lynda
