Hey guys, I realized I had totally forgotten about this site. I had an account here a while ago, I don't even remember the screen name but I figure I would post up a Build thread of sorta. I will post pics of what the car was when I first got it and then just update as I go along. Newest upgrade was an APC seat I got in the mail today. Show some Z car love baby!

Thanks, thread your thread its an amazing build you have going there. I envy your rust free 240z. How in the world do you find one that clean. I spend months looking for a clean one with no luck. I live in New Mexico till this coming Friday and they are still rusty up here. If you are on hybridz I already have a build going there. I will post a link if you want but to get everybody up to speed. Got the car for 1300. I had a few issues such as idle surge, lights not working, and obviously finding rust. I put the Maxi fuse fusible link fix in. I also put a 81 280zxt 70amp alternator on. It had an Ebay cold air intake when I got it. I fixed the lights by soldering a jumper on the combo switch which was shown to me by a hybridz member. I had a 280z a year back that was beyond repair that I had parted out and I had the wheels off it. Luckily I work at discount tire so I just went to work with the wheels and swapped the tires off the stock wheels to the other ones I had. I got the APC seat for 90 bucks shipped. Its mounting with the stock rails but its really kinda ghetto and sits to high so I plan on fixing that soon. Other than that I had broke rear suspension but I got that fixed quick. I have a poly bushing kit waiting to go in but I am going to get coil overs first. It's a 4 speed if anybody was wondering, 77 was first year for 5 speed and it was an option. If anybody has any questions I am ready to answer. I wasn't on this board much with my old account but I sure hope everybody is cool and I don't have any troll problems. I will take more pictures tomorrow maybe, depends on if I am busy or not.

And here's the motor that is destined for the front... Plus turbo.

well...it wasn't rust free. I did replace the floors because of rust and they were bent all up, but I know what you mean. It is pretty solid.

I would love to here more about your car, sounds like you have done a few mods on the electrical stuff. I have been wondering about upgrading my headlight circuits. All my electrics run through the switches, no relays.

Trolls...nope. You'll be fine. Bring it on. We like pictures.Gord

If you want to run relay's, it's really easy to do and takes an afternoon. Let me know and I'll tell you which wires to splice and where. Makes the lights nice and bright.

Hey MAG, I am on Hybridz, Camby is like right by Mooresville. I can help you with your alternator wiring and putting in the fusible link fix but beyond that I am not sure. I just fix the lights at the combo switch because my combo switch was bad. I am no electritian but I do my best, there is tons of info on Z car specific sites. Such as Hybridz and zcar and those sites. There are lots or write ups.

project is on hold due to some unexpected happenings, was going to be in the shop tomorrow cutting and hacking away and stuff. Like I said, devastating unexpected happenings, not sure how long, but probably a month or so of being on hold, possibly more.

Project is no longer on hold. My grandpa is home, as soon as my dads sprint car is out of the way the Z will be in the shop. Its not a daily anymore its full project, dailying an Impreza. Copy Paste awesomeness to come

Ok guys, here comes and update. I got lots of stuff cut off. I have a shop I can work in just right now its got my dads sprint car in the way so I am waiting till I can get over there. As far as right now this is all being done in my dads driveway so I cannot do to much at once. I got the battery box cut out. The firewall cut pretty much as far over as I am going to if I can. I still need to cut the upper part of the firewall so I can patch the entire thing. In the pictures you can see where I need to patch the rocker area on the outside and it will also need patching on the inside there. Also I learned the fender was welded to the car. One part I only took a picture after I cut it but you can see how I carefully cut the weld so I did not cause any damage to the body. The fenders are patched horribly so I am probably going to get new ones. I am hoping to get glass ones or carbon fiber if anybody ever makes some. If not I will just go with metal.

My new metal! Now this is budgeting and recycling all at the same time! I am so greet. :D

Yea, its now got 1 patch on it. Forgot how to weld its been a while. I have more cut off now and I need to actually patch it. Looked at a series 1 240z but it was JUNNNNKKK was crashed and hard. Drivers door wouldn't even shut and the guy was asking 1000! Still looking for a new one but I will keep patching. Might look at a 260z but it seems fishy. Has 3 sets of wheels and tires. Hoosier road race slicks, roll bar, beefy swap bars, suspension upgrades. Says only small rust hole in drivers board. Only asking 1000 not running. Just doesn't seem right, says former SCCA Solo 2 car.
