New to the world of 710 ownership. I just picked up this original, no rust, one owner, parked for 20 years, and running 710. The paint is in good shape, it looks bad in the photos but under the layer of dirt its in awesome shape. It was garaged until last April.

Heres what I plan to do:

-Replace auto with manual transmission (did this on my 240z, not impossible)
-upgrade suspension and brakes
-replace bumpers with the "smiley bumpers"
-repaint the car but only a fresh coat of white on the exterior
-replace the steering wheel with a nice vintage datsun 3 spoke. The rest of the interior is PERFECT!
-new shoes (Watanabe rims, bronze or charcoal gray with a polished rim/lip)
-replace the 710 empblems just behind the rear wheels with "VIOLET"

Suggestions are welcome on how to improve the look of the car, also I would appreciate if anyone wants to share their build with me.

I'll be staying away from the engine for a while with the exception of replacing the original carburetor with a new Weber that came with the car new in the box.

NICE find!

Welcome aboard. The non-US bumpers will make the most difference - can't wait to see that!

I'd hold off on paint - The old Datsun paint responds really wall to a nice professional cut/buff, and then you still have an "original paint" Datsun (which is way more valuable).

Plus, if you paint it, you're going to want to shoot the door jambs and trunk/hood, which means new weatherstrip.

Thanks AZhitman. I agree, the paint looks good as is. Any idea where to source the bumpers?

Selling it. Finally convinced my bud to sell me his 240z I've been trying for a while and need the money. I'll post it on the classifieds.
