There is a 1969 Nissan Patrol, in the driveway! Check it out!

Oh, how I wish she belonged to us. :yesnod

Fortunately, Jason, "rotorimp" lives right up the road, so we can go see it anytime we want. He stopped by this afternoon and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures while he was here. This thing is remarkably well preserved. The fact that there are less than 100 Patrols left in the US and less than half of those run, he found one heck of a rare time capsule. Congrats on an awesome find! :dblthumb:

Of course Greg had to climb in and check it out...

Needs tires REALLY bad. Holy damn!

You and me both. :tisk:
The only thing that sucks for him - there are NO parts in the US for this thing. His best hope is Australia or Indonesia. What sucks even worse - he has the '69. The rarest of them all. Great for prestige purposes. As far as parts are concerned - well, he better be glad he is a master fabricator. I'm thinking he will use those skills a lot on this one.

He should break into Jay Leno's garage and use his crazy prototyping machine, and start copying parts! :gapteeth:

What are his plans? Strip down and restore to OEM spec?

As of right now, he justs wants to drive it. He is looking for a couple of things that will make it safer to drive. It's OK now, but it needs some tweeks, especially to the braking system. Of course, it doesn't go over 50 because of the low gear, so it's not that big of a problem. Hell, you can always downshift.

He has a similar mindset to ours, "you buy cars to drive, not to park in the garage and look at." All of our furniture is in the living room, there ain't none in the garage. Same with Jason.

Ftw
I hate it when people buy an old car, then I ask them what they've done to it and they say "Oh, I just keep it in the garage." Noooo! :frown:

That's why I didn't enjoy Barrett Jackson as much as I thought I would. It was a great event, but I just can't imagine investing THOUSANDS of dollars on a car with <100 miles with the intention of never driving it. It would drive me nuts.

These were very popular back in the day. The first Patrol came out in 1951 and they are still being built today. You can see the new one here:

On a related note...I saw an nl320 tow-truck looking thing sitting in some dude's yard about 30 miles from my house. At least I think it was a 320...I wasn't driving and the people I was with would have looked at my sideways for wanting to stop and look at a beat up towtruck. It was definitely an old datsun tow-truck...

The Patrol was repainted to "previous owner’s preference” So I'm not sure what it is now--- but at least it looks period. Original colour was light beige for the truck. As they say “it’s worth whatever someone will pay for it”. I had always wanted one-so when it came up I jumped on it. I'm hoping to start the rolling restore this fall.

Love it. I saw it when it went up for sale. I have a 63 in progress, but I haven't done much to it. I am replacing the wheel cylinders. Got the front done, but was unable to get the rear drums off last year and haven't been back to it. I want to replace the old single system with a small vacuum booster split system so the brakes will be a little more dependable.

I don't know if you are familiar with the site, but take a look at Rocky Mountain Patrol & Offroad. It is a Patrol specific site.
