Hi guys,
I've got the chance of getting a Datsun Fairlady which was imported from the States back in late 2013. It is Red and has a donor 2.4 engine with 5 speed transmission.
It looks in great condition via the pictures and the guy is asking £9000, is this a reasonable price for a Roadster with an original engine in place.

Any ideas how difficult it is getting spare parts for these fantastic looking vehicles in the UK, nil I'm guessing.

Anyway good people, many thanks to you all for taking up your time in reading this and I look forward to your thoughts.

Kind regards,

Nige.

Hey I've had 11 views but not a single comment. Is there still a market for these beautiful cars, even with a donor engine!

Hi Nigeboxer,

Yes there is a market for these guys. One sold for 55,000 USD (that's the highest I've seen). 10,000 to 25,000 USD for pristine. 7,000 to 12,000 USD for very good shape. 5,000 to 10,000 USD for good shape.

Do you have any pictures? Exterior, interior, engine compartment?

For parts there are some cross references to 60's Brit as the car is modeled after a Healey with some XKE mixed in. The quad calipers on the front are identical to XKE, original drive train (R series engine) shares many parts with healeys.

If the drive train is upped to a 2.4 with 5 spd, which engine is that (manufacturer, year).

If it is in fantastic condition, 9,000 pounds = roughly 14,000 USD and that's not too bad at all. That falls into the ranges I noted above. The roadsters are going up in value as well. 25 years ago you could snap them up for 1,000 to 1,500 USD for a 1600cc, 2,500 to 5,000 for a 2000cc. Those days are long gone. A fixer upper is 2,500 to 4,000 usd.

I've had 5 of these cars over the past 25 years, they're very addictive.

Post a few pics if you can and I can give my 2 bits on the car.

Hi Andy,

I'm new on here and will attempt to upload some pictures buddy. It's a 240sx engine and gearbox. She looks really tidy via pictures sent. There is no history with her but as I've previously stated, she looks really tidy. How do I attach a picture Andy. Sorry bud.

I'm new here too. I think there's a thread on the general forum on how to do that. It's probably an upload to a picture site and then linking to it.
