1959 Datsun L-211u 4 door sedan that had been in a showroom until 1996.The car is 99.99% complete but will need a total gound up restoration. I am not certain that I am up to the project and I am looking for help and suggestions from anybody having any knowledge as to where to start with this car. I would possibly be interested in selling to somebody who has theability and resources to complete this project. This car arrived on the first boat load of Datsuns to the U.S. If anyone has any ideas or interest in this car I would appreciate some help. Thanks.

Yes...THIS IS THE CAR!!!! Except I have a faded red one that is unrestoredand needs a lot of work. The car is a 1958 that was on the first boatload to the U.S. It was titled as a 1959 L-211 instead of 1958 as they were called 1959 models even though they were manufactured in Japan in 1958.The car is 99.9% complete but in unrestored condition. The body is nearly perfect. This will be a project that is probably beyond my abilities and budget to restore original so I would be looking for considerable help or possibly somebody who would love the car enough to buy it from me to restore the vehicle to original condition. I pretty much promised the prior owner that I would not make a "hot rod" or "funny car" out of it but restore it to original condition, however I have considered putting the body on the chassis with an updated engine, etc. or find something the body would fit on. Would it fit on a mini cooper chassis and motor or something similar to bring it up to date engine, chassis and suspension wise?? If I was to do something like this I would want to leave the body as original as possible but put it in a driveable condition that would be more dependableand use the car as a daily driver. I am in the middle of restoring a 1960 24 foot Airstream travel trailer now so I have enough of a project going at present.

The car on Ebay is a 1964 Bluebird 1200....the car that I am referring to is an 1958/59 Datsun L-211 1000 series. I think that the Bluebird is a 311series car but I may be incorrect about that.

I found this site quite by accident but I am intrigued by your post on early Datsuns. My parents bought the 4th Datsun 1000 sold in the San Francisco market in 1958. It was pink and it was moved from California to Ontario, Canada and then to Michigan on a moving van with my family's personal effects. I have a long story to tell if you're interested.
