Hello,

I have a 1993 240sx convertible. The tire on it is 195/50/r15. I have a friend who has a set of rim which is 205/50/r15. I have another friend who has a set of snow tire which is 195/50/r15.

Just wondering if I can use the 195/50r15 tire with the 205/50/r15 rim on my 240sx.

thanks..

edio

195/65/r15 is pretty normal for 240's. 50 is a pretty low profile for 15 inch wheels.

Rims are not sized 205/50/15, that is a tire size designation. Your car's rim is 15x6, and yes, the 205/50/15 tire will fit fine. That tire is 10mm wider and 5mm taller than your 195/50/15's.

195 = 195mm wide (tread width)50 = aspect ratio (sidewall is 50% of tread width)15 = rim diameter

For the record, the stock tires were a lot taller in O.D. and red240one is correct; a 50 series is a very small 15" tire. The 195/50-15 isn't even close especally on load rating. The 205/50-15 is at lest a little wider and taller so the air chamber inside the tire is closer to that of the stock tire. It's close enough that you can increase the air pressure you run to match the O.E. load rating and run safe. To maintain the safe load rating please be sure to run at least 34psi in those. If you run the stock 29psi you run the risk of overheating the sidewalls (repeat after me, Explorer, Explorer) and at the very least the tires are going to wear very quickly due to excessive heat build up in the belt and sidewall. Always check to make sure you are running the correct air pressure especally if you run a non stock size that is smaller in O.D. than the stock tires! I'm probably going to post this a million times because it's that important! If your local shop doesn't know how to figure that out post here and we will help you out or give me a call.
