In the market for new rims. Not sure if I want 19's or 20's. Dont want the car to look like a pimped out sled. 18's dont nearly fill the wheel well as it should. Can you post some pics with 19's and 20's to help me decide. Thanks all!

19s or 20s want do it unless you drop it. I have a link in my sig for you to see some pics of staggered 20s. IMO thats the best look 19s or 20s but you must have a drop to make the look. LOOK before you make a choice.

I think I have decided to get the Enkei Razrs 20 inch. They are 20 x 8.5 with 40mm of offset. Anyone think I will have any rubbing issues with these? Just to be safe should I get like 5mm offset too?

20's are the best bet! When I look at my ride with the stock 19's I think they look small so I'm gonna go 20, plus 20 inch tires are cheaper than 19's

If ride quality is very important then 19's.

Everything else 20's.

I assume when you say "don't fit the wheelwells" you mean rim only. Because tire plus rim is what actually fills the wheelwell. And that remains the same.

To truly fill it you need a small drop.

20's + springs or coilovers. I went 21's + coilovers so height is adjustable to my liking.

I think it depends on how much $$$$$ you want to spend on wheels/tires (19" or 20"). You get into the forged or high end rims, it's going to be a $300-$400 difference in pricing or maybe more.

A nice set of 19" with good quality tires package will be around $4K plus. Don't think about size IMHO,,,,think about quality. Afterall...you are driving an M.

i would buy used in your area for local pick up , meet the sell at a tire shop have them spin the rims for bends - pay him once all is well ..

i made the mistake of dropping large coin on rim once , i will never do that again since its a waste of money - buy nice set of rims used with tires and save your self major dollars and keep the expecsive looks after all the car is used lol

9 inch all round or 10.5 on the rears will look real nice - how much are you will to drop that is the other question - 7000 classy rims new- used price can run you 2500 to 3500 with tires

Regarding buying used, I would agree with Petrol, if your gonna do it, make sure you have them checked.. spent $2500 on some used lowenharts for a benz i used to have and could not have been more disappointed for various reasons..

I would say 20's are a no brainer... More tire choices, tires are cheaper, with M's, they wheel well i think looks better with a bigger tire even though the size of the tire/wheel combo is probably gonna be the same. besides, isn't bigger/more always better (wheels, hp, boobs)?

here is a picture of my rear tires 295 25 20 on an 11 inch rim but you can go a few sizes down and you will not have to modify your fenders ...

i say run 265 35 20 and you will be fine on the rear but you will not look like mine without the work to the fenders

Just spend at least $5k for wheels and you should be in decent shape in terms of quality. Don't spend anything less than $3k on an M35/45.

thanks for the advise, however... I must disagree a bit.. I've spent 6k (Viper), 4k(bmw), 2.5k (used for benz) and countless other purchases for wheels in the past.. Spending 3-5k on wheels for an infinity makes so little sense to me, you have no idea.. maybe when i get a lambo it would make sense to me.. On a car I'm putting 20k miles a year on, but still want the "look", I'm gonna spend as little as possible while still feeling comfortable with the wheel quality (as in safety). I've replaced too many wheels to buy "that kind" of wheel for a daily commuter car again..

MRR cheap? Thanks for the advise.. I'm looking at those wheels first!

Bill.

bang for buck - mrr with tires on the road will run you a 1600 with good tires and that off set - my point if pay 1800 for used high end wheels - heck if the last 3 yrs who cares but at the end of the day you have a better quality used wheels ..

http://www.vipstylecars.com/fo...17728

here is a set for $500 buck now that is cheap .. adr mrr msr ...looks nice will not break the huge bank that you have ..

http://www.vipstylecars.com/fo...17344

here is a set of 19 nice price of $850 neg with tires they are about 4 k new ..

just pointing out the facts but at the end of the day its YOUR MONEY HEY WHAT DO I KNOW

let us know what you pick ....

Petrol head, can you explain to us what makes "ADR" wheels better?

MMR has a lifetime warranty on struture and a year on finish. They both have been making wheels well over ten years. I have not been able to find anything negative on either wheel manufacturer. By far MMR website is better with real examples. They go deep into explaining there quality and manufacturing process. I do know that MMR has no middle man. Everything is done right there at the plant. They have been doing OEM wheels for awhile. They also do very high end wheels as well.

I spoke to ADR and they said it came down to style as long as everything is "DOT" approved.

Clearly forged is better but that has to do with the process more than who is doing it.

Please shed some light on the subject.

Maybe it's the bad grammar that led me to believe you said that.

True that.

How 'bout some pictures of your ride, and close up pictures of your fabulous wheels P.

By the way, they are MMR Design wheels. They retail for about $500 each.

Think about this.

The cost of moving TPMS sensors from one wheel to another.Rebalancing both wheels as well as mounting tires.Lugs.Hubcentric rings.Typically used tires have uneven wear and far less life.Inability to get road hazard protection for nails and such with used tires.Almost always some nicks, rash, and no guarantee of no vibrations. No garuantee you'll even get the used wheels and tires.Shipping cost.Less choices.Little control of offsets and width.

The cost of the aforementioned without all the extras is only about $650 for (4) brand new wheels. The "brand new" T1R's are $1200 by themselves.

Not bad really. Not bad at all.

Personally, I would spend $4K plus on a wheels/tires combo (which I have),,,,if you can't afford it,,,should of bought a Honda Accord and spend $2K on a wheels/tires combo. Not knocking on anybody's else personal taste,,,but you are "de-valuing" your M by putting on cheap rims IMHO. I've seen nice cars with cheapo rims and it's in bad taste...or what's worst,,,,chrome!

I have more respect for a person who owns a $1K ride but spend $4K on wheels/tires. The accessories will make the CAR.......IMHO.

I saw a 2008 CLS 550 the other day with Chrome 22" by TSW....

What I've noticed from others who buy cheap wheels/tires...they spend alot of time putting quarters into the machine to put air in their tires or the tires/wheels are always out of balance or the car shimmers when driving - doesn't matter how many times they get it balance. All of those factors are taking into account when you are buying cheap wheels/tires combo.....you pay for what you get.

Quality is before quanity IMHO. If necessary, put a down payment on a set of wheels, have it order than pay it off when it arrive to America,,,generally the "good quality wheels".....you are getting on the wait list cause they would have to ship them from Japan or it's on backordered.

Work, Volk, Advan, etc.......those are some of my favorite brand. I am sure there are a few more high end out there I forgot to mentioned, but there are a handful that makes good quality wheels from Japan.
