This is a first for me. I know that these push-button vehicles allows you to use the metal key to unlock the driver's door when the fob is dead and NOT trigger the alarm, and able to start the vehicle with the fob placed near to the button. But dang, the 2019 Model Year showed me how low Nissan got within the 2nd generation Rogue. Never had this issue in my 16 Rogue and my MDX, but this evening the fob went completely dead, which automatically locked the Rogue. When we put the metal key in the key lock area, twice, both times the alarm was set off. To make things worse, the Rogue was parked in the garage so that alarm was loud as heck. This literally made the Rogue useless and we didn't have the CR 2032 battery on hand. Had we not brought my MDX too, we would have been stuck at the location we were at until Nissan USA had the set of balls to send us help.

Now I am planning to take this POS to the dealer first thing in the morning to see if this is literally programmed within the ECU or BCU, and have this stupid thing disabled. I cannot understand who in the hell over at Nissan thought this was A-OKAY to happen. Whoever you are, you made a car useless if the problem was unsolved. Now I have like 8 CR 2032 batteries at home because no one sells this battery in singles.

Mind you, the low key battery warning popped up at 17,991 miles, and the fob went flat at 18,011 miles.

If I'm not mistaken, you should have been able to kill the alarm and start the car with the inductive end of the fob (the logo end) held up to the button while pressing it. That's the "emergency start" setup, it uses a traditional RFID antenna behind the button that doesn't need power in the fob. I believe it will also cancel the alarm on an I-key car. You might have another problem in the door, though. Perhaps a bad lock cylinder switch. Turning the door cylinder to "unlock" should have canceled the alarm. Now that the fob has a battery, I'd test it by using the cylinder to work the power locks. Two unlock twists one after another should unlock all 4 doors, and one twist to lock should lock all 4. If either function doesn't work, the cylinder switch has a problem.

I am going to give the lock thing a try in the morning (on the driveway of course). I still plan on taking this car to get it looked under warranty because my 2016 Rogue never did this before, even with a dead fob.

But why does the alarm gets activated when the fob goes completely flat? This makes no sense at all.

It doesn't, that's why I think your door lock may have an issue. Turning it to unlock should disarm the alarm unconditionally, regardless of whether a fob is even present.

Pulled the Rogue out onto the driveway early this morning, rolled down both front windows like last night, and pressed the lock button. Placed the dang fob in my MDX, and used the metal key to unlock the Rogue. It did not trigger the alarm, and actually disabled it, which is how its supposed to do.

I have scheduled a service appointment for next month as this car will be garage parked as usual during the holidays. I will then have that dealer's tech team look into this issue, since the local Nissan dealers in Orlando is pretty unresponsive.

I have same issue. I replaced in additional key fob battery like shown below https://replacekeyfob.com/2017-nissan-rogue but car have not responding. Then I just open users manual and get in the car with the Key, then lock the doors. Insert the key into the ignition, but don’t start the car, then remove the key. Do this about six times, although it can take up to 10 times. When you care accepts the Key, the hazard lights will flash twice.

Reprograming complete.
