This morning, while pops was trying to go to work, the POS decided to die; this resulted in pops taking my car to work. From what I know, there was no signs of low battery or anything that would have given hints of battery dying. When I press the engine on button, the starter will click/attempt to start the vehicle for 5 minutes at least. The DRLs and FOG lights is on, regardless of where the stalk switch is positioned (OFF, Parking, Low beams, Auto). Vehicle has 18,937 miles exactly (odo was able to be displayed). Now its been like an hour since I put in a Nissan USA roadside assistance ticket request. Question is why did this battery not last 3 years or over the warranty period? I don't understand this, and now my entire day is wasted at the local scumbag Nissan dealership.

Could still be the battery.
Just because you get 12 volts doesn't mean that it is good.

Take it out and have it checked at an Autostore.

Failed battery test and the battery has been replaced under warranty. They are also opening a tech line case due to the vehicle auto locking itself and triggering the alarm when the key fob is completely dead. And also updating the headunit to attempt to fix the glitching Android Auto issue. All while doing an OC, TR and Brake Fluid.

Dealer did approach me and offered $27k for this POS. I did test drove a 21 Platinum and it has a dealer mark up of $5k. If we sell this pos, we would make a profit of ~$2k on a Rogue.

I replaced the OEM battery on our '18 model late in 2021. Probably had about 65,000 miles on it. Your experience of how it manifested itself was the same as mine - one day fine, next day..."clik, clik, clik."

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but it never ceases to amaze me how to some people, everything that fails unexpectedly or at an inconvenient time is a POS. It strikes me rather like that old George Carlin line about how everyone on the highway going slower than you is a jerk and everyone going faster is a maniac. It's never just, "Different strokes and $hit happens."

If anyone knows of a perfect automobile model that's never been called a POS by anyone, I'll be very interested to not have to work on it.

That's a negative, Ghost Rider. Just had a used Silverado in the bay next to me yesterday. Rear axle, and Greg was cussing pretty hard at it.

The POS pattern is full. :lolling:

I know when one is a pos. Unfortunately, this 19 Rogue is one. Electrical gremlins are mostly the cause here, followed by needing to get a dealer to fix it cuz Nissan doesn’t supply proper tools for DIYers to fix electrical issues, which in then I have to get Geico involved cuz Nissan again won’t fix the stupid issues that I tell and explain to make me happy. When you compare an older model within the same generation that has 0 issues and this one, one would highly likely will call this a pos. My issues still exist although after complaining multiple times Nissan is finally fixing them. Nissan just doesn’t want to fix anything when its clear as day there are issues; but of course Nissan had to make things a billion times complicated with everything. This vehicle name plate almost made me to quit DIY.

And speaking about it, my 16 never died on me one bit, even when I left it to sit for multiple weeks and multiple start ups within an hour. I just had a doubt @ ~73k miles and the battery was failing due to CCAs being below acceptable numbers; but never left me stranded. Had my dad took this to work yesterday, he would’ve been stranded. Not gonna lie, I want another 2016 again. Would love to trade this piece of junk once warranty ends, IF Nissan cannot fix everything under warranty.

I can tell you the 2021 and newer Rogues from what I’ve seen doesn’t have these issues while still under warranty.

My old boss, who now works across the street managing the shop at BMW, would tell you BMW technical support is absolutely wonderful... and good thing, because the cars are all POS's.

I’m seriously waiting for warranty period to end here. Should’ve gotten the extended warranty for this. Anyone knows if Nissan has their own extended warranty system?

Because now that Johnson Controls are making their batteries in Mexico, sometimes you run into a pos battery? :werd:

But of course older cars are made wayyyyyyyy better and lasted way longer because they were easier to maintain and built to the highest specifications for safety decades ago.

Nowadays manufacturers are using CAD computers to create vehicles with metallurgy that makes it barely passable and with standards so low while trying to make the most profit.

Moreover, all these electronics that were not meant to last long. Of course these car manufacturers don't want your vehicles to last 300-500,000 miles. They want it to break down at a predetermined time table. Hence why their already taking away tranmission dip sticks. Broken lift gate anyone? Saw that lately here. :inout:

Didn't they take away the oil dipstick in BMW's already? Yeah they want to screw consumers these day. :wtf2:

We have a 2006 Lexus IS250 with a pos melting dashboard and door panel. It has less than 15,000 miles. Yes it's that low. So pos cars can be found everywhere in life.

Well we already know we can't maintain electric cars as easy as our gasoline counterparts.

I guess I was lucky then, mine died also without warning but it was 6 years. Replaced it with one from Costco and I was good to go.

Do I have to buy it through a Nissan dealer or can I get it through Nissan USA? And is the price consistent or varies by region/dealer?

Dunno the details, that's a Q for the sales and finance guys. I only know they offer it, it comes through to us as WFEX on the repair order and we need to turn in the parts just like a regular warranty repair.
