The center speaker on a Q70 is easy to access. The grille pries up with a plastic finesse tool, then there are three screws (8mm hex on most Nissan products) holding the speaker in.Beancooker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:20 amYou can use an ohms reader to measure resistance to see if the voice coil is cooked, if you can access the speaker input connection.
Thank you for the help. I'm in New England. We see 80-90 occasionally, and it's not sustained. Perhaps I should just pull that speaker and replace it? I am not savvy with an ohm meter lol. Is the voice coil a part of that speaker? And also, this is now an intermittent problem as I just drove to town and back, and it didn't do it...Thank you againBeancooker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:20 amIt definitely sounds like either the voice coil has met its maker, or possibly the paper cone has deteriorated. Are you in an area where it’s really hot and cooks your dash?
Are you able to access the speaker to assess?

yes it looks easy to get toVStar650CL wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:39 amThe center speaker on a Q70 is easy to access. I get it now after some homework... And thank you for your patience with a novice on this stuff. Ironically, I was looking at Crutchfield for the replacement; I just didn't know which one to get. And as I think, no sound is coming from that speaker, so perhaps it's been junk for a while. I have purchased a few audio components from Crutchfeild in the past, and they have been great. Beancooker thanks for your help.Beancooker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 12:19 pmYeah, if it’s easy to access, just replace it. Check out crutchfield.com they have a great selection at good prices and a pretty good guide for fitment.
The voice coil is the copper winding that is surrounded by the magnet, and attaches to the paper cone. It’s the heart of the speaker.
