For those that have gone from a 19 to 20 inch, is the ride difference noticable? And will I really notice it going from 18 to 20?

I had my heart set on a set of 19x8.5 (all around) rims, but I'm being told the offset for that is 32 and it will stick out in the M...is that true? So I'm being steered to 20X9 38 offset (all around).

To offset the ride comfort I'm thinking to get a 255/35/20 if I have to get the 20. Or will that be problematic?

You can also run 255/40R20. I'm running that on my X lower on coil overs. Rides is pretty soft.

I went from stock 19s to 20s and thinner tires with hire air pressure makes the ride a bit more stiff.

Stock size on 19" is 245/40 with the thickness being 40 series if you go to 20" and stay at 40 series you shouldn't be any different...like 255/40/20" only wider (255) I am running 20" staggered my fronts are 245/35/20 only difference is increased air pressure due to loosing a bit of thickness... So that does increase stiffness by a bit but not really bad at all!!

If you have your mind set on the 19x8.5 with +32 offset you should go ahead and do it... They will not stick out!! I am running 20"x9" +35 offset with your 8.5" wide wheel the +32 offset will be as close to flush as you possibly can!! Plus with rim width of 8.5" you could run 255/35/19" or 245/35/19" for the 20" I would do 255/35/20" if not going staggered!!

The wider wheel at 20x9" +38 offset well be very close to flush also but the wider wheel looks more aggressive/sportier plus more traction for a meaty 255 tire!! 255/35/20"

OK, I used http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp and it told me with the 19" from the 18" I would have 9mm more on the inside of the wheel to the strut housing. Is that going to cause a problem, as oposed to the 20" from the 18" which has 4mm less on the inside of the wheel to the strut housing.

Now I found this site http://www.jonathanrowny.com/page/offset-calculator which is great and I think would be of use to everyone, but to really be usefull, we need to know the distance between the hub and fender.
