Im not understanding what you mean by 35/40 tires. Do you mean aspect ratio? you will probly be looking at a 245/35/18 or somewhere close. I had the same size (unknown offset), and you have to do 35's because they will rub if they are any bigger. You may also need spacers for such big wheels and offset.

Im not saying your wrong but isnt that alittle wide for 9.5 inch. I had 275s that fit almost perfect on my 10.5 extra wide wheels.
And correct me if Im wrong but I think you want to look for a lower offset so the wheel comes out more. I think the +35 will rub suspension for sure without spacers.

outtowin is right. The majority of mustang guys run 275's on 9 inch wheels. They have a good profile IMO.
235-245's are too narrow for a 9 inch wide wheel unless you're into that goofy stretched tire thing in my opinion. I run 225 michelin pilot sports ( little narrower than most 225's) on a 7 inch wide wheel. And they're just barely over square.

Nah I hate the stretched look. I remember having 235s on a 9.5 inch front rim and a 275 on a 10.5 rear rim that was almost square. Then again a friend had a 10-10.5 inch wheel on his mustang with 315 on it and it looked right.
As for the OP, I would check with the +35 offset. Wheel shops usually have books to see max wheel fitment or see if it will fit if you can test fit it.
