I have a 1997 240sx SE and just want to get the MB Motorsports wheel(model name is Drifter). I want the 18x9.5 and 18x8.5. Is this going to fit without a problem? What offset should I get? Are the tire and wheel shops going to determine which offset I should get? I just upgraded my suspension to Tein Flex. The wheels have offsets of 28, 38, 46 for 18x8.5. Offsets available for 18x9.x are 15, 25, 35.Here's a link to the picture: http://www.discounttiredirect....l.jpg

My future plan is to upgrade to a bigger brake in front. Do you think the wheels will clear the big breaks? thanks.

get the 28 in front and either the 15 or 25 in the rear. the 15 might require some rolling but will look cooler; the 25 will probably fit without any modifications.

their website lists them for the 300zx also so they should fit. if for some reason they don't, q45 brakes are the same size and have much better caliper clearance.

If you go to the suspension forum and look in the wheel FAQ there is something called an offset calculator....stock wheel is 6" wide with a +40mm offset, enter that in and try the new wheel size and a couple of different offsets...It will tell you how much clearance you will loose/gain towards the strut, and towards the fender.IMO 18 look kinda big on a 240...17s fit the car much better, if you haven't seen a 240 on 18's you might wanna try to track down a picture before making a final purchase...

thanks! that was quick! I was gonna go to bed and check for replies to my post. awesome!

BTW, I did a research for 18's and saw many pictures of 240xs's with 18x9.5 and 18x8.5. But one thing that confused me was the offset. Because Each of those cars I saw have different offsets. The latest Modified mag featured an RB-powered 240sx(s14) and has the same wheel configuration so I assume it would fit but I was not sure. jtuned.com has a bunch of 240sx's with 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 too. Again, each of the car have different offsets.

he was refering to the look of such a large diameter wheel from the side. offset won't matter in that case. just look at some side shots of the car and see for yourself. i think 16"s look perfect on the 240

fyi, 18s will make your car slower because they are heavier and the mass is farther from the axis of rotation.

Yeah, 18s will slow you down, especially 18s made by mb motoring. I bet those suckers weigh nearly 30 lbs each. SP33, IMO, steer clear of those wheels.

I want the gram lights 57s, same size, but they are ~$700 more expensive.

The stock 16" wheel that came with the 240sx looks kinda skinny right now because of the tein coilover.

Please recommend any good wheels (at least 17") that is about the same weight as the stock 16". I always asked the sales at the stores about the weight and they always say they have no idea.thank you for all your suggestions!

Yes, 5-lug. Is 17x8.5 and 17x7.5 okay? The new 5zigen gn+ looks light. I might get them if they are cheap.

Nismofly:The 18x8.5 is $147 each, and 18x9.5 is $157 each, plus tax. From discounttiredirect, the price for 57s is $1300 for 18x8.5 and 18x9.5.

The weapon looks better than the drifter. The drifter wheels has less number of spokes though. I hope the drifter weighs less because of those spoke. Well, I don't know what to get right now. I wish I have the GTR engine in my 240 so that I can put almost any 18 wheels in it.

I found a very lightweight 17x8 wheels! The wheel is kosei. The wheel looks weak though. I hope it is durable. Is kosei a good brand?thanks. Here's the link: http://www.tirerack.com/images...l.jpg

kosei are decent.

Also +25 in the front and +15 out back for offsets. You may need to roll the fender lip on the rear pending how low and the amount of chamber you are running. Also +15s would look good all the way around you may run into some trouble though.

The available offset for kosei k1 is 35 for 17x8 and 36 for 17x7. Is this okay?

Right now, the stock 16"x6 wheels looks buried and the car is lowered in my new coilover suspension. For the front wheels, it looks like there is about 1-2 inches gap between the wheel and the fender. The back wheels and the fender has about 2-3 inches of space between them.

If you get the 18s, I doubt the fronts will clear coilovers. I have 18x8.5 +25 and 18x9.5+25. The fronts barely clear the coilovers. Also, I have an S13.

My car is pearl white. I got the gray or dark color. My car feels lighter too. Maybe I only think that my car is light? Because I was hypnotized but what you all advised.
