Im getting Some volk racing te37's for my S14. 18x8.5 in rear, 18x7.5 in front. .What im rolling on now are 205/55/16. i was thinking something like 245/40 for the rear and 225/40 for the front. this sound good? When i was looking for 8.5's at Discount tire direct, they kept on recommending 215's for the 8.5's, but that seems way off. i need to make sure its some glitch with their system, and not me.

The tire sizes should fit to the wheels you mention fine.

Put 215's on an 8.5" wheel and it'll look like one of those cars you see on the cover of "Lowrider" magazine...

I run 255's on a 7.5" wheel and it looks awesome. So yes, 245 is a nice size for the 8.5" width.

Although, I'm not sure I understand your rationale for going narrower (and smaller diameter) in the front - Better to run 245/40 on all four corners (plus, then you can rotate them).

It is also dangerous, IMO! The tire mount "edge" will not sit flat on the wheel and can easily pop off the rim (on the outside) and this will be quite a sight!

i am all about 215s on a 9j peronally

and if you check the conversion rate a 215 is perfect for for a 8.5 a 205 would be a nice slight strech

225-40-18 and 255-35-18, F/R is a nice setup if you've got some power behind the car.DT- they reccomend 215's for the correct overall diameter.....but then again, myself, smith and grant dont like DT....makes you wonder, huh?

again, if you dont have some serious power, you dont relaly have a reson for running wider tires in the rear, much less 18", unless its just the look you want.-chet
