So I'm driving to meet my dad for a round of golf this morning and my SES light goes on for the first time, ever. After a terrible round on the course but a beautiful sunny 78 degree day in so-cal, I bought a code reader. The code that it's spitting out is P0158 O2 Ckt High Volts 2 2. So what's wrong with my O2 sensor in bank 2 position 2? Does this sensor have to be replaced and how difficult is it to do? Where's the cheapest place to find the sensor? BTW thanks for the code readout thread.

Thanks!

Billy

dude u got one reliable Q. u must take very good care of it. So...180k with no transmission problems either? ANd now only an o2 sensor problem...wow dude thats awesome. O2 sensor's are normal maintenance. They go out eventually. ANd yes they are pricey. Since our 3.5 liters have 4 of them costing 150 dollars a pop at the dealer yeah...it can get expensive but u can go out and get aftermarket ones for from the range of 30-100 bucks. after u fix it u have to get the ecm flashed at the dealer.

Get a factory service manual and see what it says about that code. Thereare some other possibilities than the sensor (but sensor is most likely).

I think the ECM reflash is to improve the life of the new sensor. It only needs to be done once. IIRC, the older hflash would cook the sensor.

Its kinda funny that you had this problem becouse it happend to me yesterday, had my mechanic look at it and sure enough bank two number two o2 fortunatly instead of replacing it he removed it cleaned it out or off and put it back in so hopefully it doesent come back on for a while and he saved me 170.

If im understanding my service manual correctly the max volts the o2 sensor should put out is 1.0v. between 0.3-1.0v. I think you just need to replace your o2 sensor and youre set.

oh and when my o2 sensors went on my 96 pathy i bought all new sensors from oxygensensors.com. Buy the OE plug in ones, the universal ones suck. Prices from 70-100 per sensor.

Thanks everyone for the info and thanks nissandoms47 for the link. So my other questions are is the bank 2 position 2 the pre-cat left or right or the post-cat left or right? And how much of a pain is it to change it out?

It's the rear O2 for bank 2, it means it's the O2 after the cat on the left bank(driver side), assuming u have a pathfinder, need to check service bulletins if ecm repogramming is needed. Maybe just a fuse is blown that controls the heater of O2. More info on vehicle will be nice.
