ok guys, im looking to do the kouki 180sx tailight conversion. Do these tailights bolt right up to the stock 24osx original spots? They seem more rounded than the 24o tailights. I tried searching, but it kept giving me that 'no matches' B.S ,i KNOW this has been discussed before im sure, just can't find the threads, any help is appreciated, thanks

i believe you need the center light piece and the metalish piece like that underneath the light center piece.

so all i need is the center piece (which i planned on getting anyway)? and the tailights themselves, they fit right into the old holes?

you need the full kit. the two tail lights, the center garnish, the metal finisher that sits under the setup above and also the key cylinder for the center garnish. The kit will bolt up in the original spots. the key cylinder is longer for the kouki's so you need the cylinder to make them work. there is also minor plug work.

yes ivce heard about the lock differences. And i just plan to cut and solder my usdm plugs to the JDM ones and that should work. But some pictures ive seen, the center piece of the taillight section sticks out farther than the original 24o center piece. Or was taht one just not installed correctly?

thats a link to what i mean. Also that says it includes 'filler piece', what exactly is filler piece?

the white part in the middle seems to have a cover on it. thats prolly why it looks like it sticks out. all the one's i've seen in person are either painted over or they say 180sx on them.

idunno. i like the lights and all. but i dont pay too much attention to them. but i wonder if i should pick some up

these are sometimes referred to as type x taillights. (which is officially incorrect, but...)The white car in the link you posted looks weird. But I cant figure out whats wrong with it. The top lines up with the trunk perfectly and the bottom looks like it lines up with the bumber. I gotta compare it to another pic I have at home.

k, cause i just can't figure it out really. I mean, ive seen some w/ 18oSX middle piece, those are the chuki tailights, just like the 24o ones here in the states, but w/ 18osx, not 24osx written on them. The kouki lights are the ones that look like r33 tails, w/ the body colored middle piece

the filler piece is under the center part, the small body panel that covers the frame above the bumper and below the lights. [duh]

good luck with the lock. i wouldnt reccomend doing what you have planned. just go over to phase2motortrend.com and get the whole kit for like $550. it will save you so much time and frustration. before buying it though take into consideration that you have to get the bottom piece painted and the middle section is optional. i like it black personally.

well if hte filler piece is causing the taillights to stick out an inch or so past the back of the older tailights, how do i get em to stay flush, im not understanding

yes they fit in teh stock holes for them, that part bolts up, but like i said the only thing u have to do is wiring. Cut the old USDM plugs and connect em to the jdm wires so tehy'll plug into the same harnesses

is it just a basic cut the connectors type of deal? or is there mroe to re-wiring it than that?

nope, theres no real 'wiring' just cut and reconnect kinda deal. The only reason u really have to do that is because the jdm plugs are different, hell if u dont wanna cut and re-connect, they have conversio kits, to get the taillights ot match up w/ usdm plugs

No hijack intended, but what about the silvia projectors? Do they have the same problem?

okay i got it now, thanks for that clarification. well if they are for an S13 i believe there is more to it than that, hence pop-ups vs. projectors

i dont see a sig under your post, but the silvia projectors are totally different. Those require headlight harnesses, different wiring, brackets and such, search, its a pretty common conversion and thers much information to be found on it

the taillights always come with jdm harnesses, but there's some kind of conversion kit that makes them plug/n/play, instead of having to splice and solder. I dunno who sells em, but check webcrawler and search
