Hi I have a 240SX '92 Fastback and I got the 180SX tail lights. The thing is the lights fit, but the connectors don't (the standard ones are too small, yet the 180SX ones are huge). I was wondering what kind of connectors I can get or what can I do to make the lights work?

Thank you,Daniel

You need to take the connectors off the old lights and splice them on the new ones......the colors are the same, just match them.....

Oh, there's no way I can just buy the connectors at like some electronics store and then cut out the US one and put those in to connect to the 180SX?

And no I will not sell them! I just got them =P.

Haha, Thanks,Daniel

Buy wire crimps. They are without a doubt the best way to go No chance of coming loose if you do it right and you barely lose any wire if you have to take them out again.

Hi. Shrinktubing? What is that?

Oh yeah and if I do get wire crimps, do I just cut both connectors off and just... man I'm so lost I don't even know what wire crimps are. Are crimps the connectors? Can I just buy connectors?

But then the electrical tape should have no problems right?

Thanks,Daniel

electrical tape should be fine, since it doesnt see any water. just twist them together good.

if you are around the torrance , ca area and i dont have work that day, i can swing by and help you put it on if you want.

Hi. Oh I see. Well since electrical tape should be okay then I think I'll just do that then. So much more simplier than everything else.

Unless any one else comes up with any new ideas.

Well I mean is it possible to buy the 180SX connector so I can just cut the US one and put that one on? So I mean if I do take it out and sell it again, I have the original connectors.

Thanks,Daniel

Yeah anything but electrical tape. Because if you're banking that the back of a USDM S13 wont see water you're banking on long odds. A lot of leaks travel through the bodywork around the taillights.

That being said, yeah when you cut wires for the first time it really sucks, and its kind of scary for some reason. Once you get used to it and get the confidence you're not going to screw anything up it gets easy.

kamikazestorm has the right idea, what I meant was if you use electrical tape as your main method of holding the wires together, they aren't going to insulate well enough and if you have any of the traditional S13 leaks you could fry something.

Personally I prefer crimp tubes but heatshrink is just as good, anything that creates a real seal.

ya thats right, remember to use that strip of black stuff all the way around your housing when installing to minimize leaks.

Hi. Oh yeah about that. How the heck do I put that stuff on? It only came with the lights itself, not the centre piece though. Is that right?

Thanks,Daniel

if you didnt get the center piece( piece with reverse lights) then dont worry about wiring because you cant put them on...the kouki lights are angled where the 240sx hatch are flat where the taillights meet the center piece

it should be really simple ..

take out the centerpiece then the left+right, then the bottom piece.

bolt them back in reverse order.

dont forget to put that black butyl sealant around it.

I have no idea as to why this thread is still going. The plugs match with color and if you're not familiar with heatshrink, use some good old fashioned electrical tape or use some silicone tape. The silicone will make a water tight seal.
