hello there,

done so many google searches and so much reading on this site allready i figured it's about time to become a member. Great forum by the way.

Im stuck installing a solid aluminium spacer that replaces the crappy rubber bush in the steering shaft, ive undone the 4 nuts that hole the rubber bush in place, but i cant seem to work out whats next.. do i need to take the lower half of the steering shaft off by taking the bolt out the clamp and removing the lower section of the shaft off the spline ?

i cant seem to find no DIY or How To tutorials on this item so im a little stuck..

any helps appreciated,

cheers

nah no way im taking the entire steering column out, thats a PITA..

ive got the intake manifold off the car currently and have enough access to the 2 shafts at the moment. How exactly did you install it ? as said did you removed the low shaft off the spline ?

after reading that link you posted im deffinatly not keen on removing the whole steering column

i ended up taking the lower end of the shaft out of the steering rack

once i got it out from there, it just came right out.

thanks im 99% of the way there, ive just reassembled but after reassembling it and tightening it all up, when i get the steering wheel straight it the wheels seem to be off barely a bee's d!ck to the right

i think it may be 1 tooth off when connecting the steering shaft back to the spline on the steering rack

DOES THIS MATTER ? as all new coilovers, castor, rear camber, toe and other suspension components are being installed also, as i will be getting a steering alignment done.

So will this need to be rectified ?

not to stress, before i removed the lower shaft off the spline i made a marking, but mistakenly i was going off an other mark which looked similar, i aligned it with the correct marking and now the steering is as it was before.

very happy with it, and thanks for your help
