Car: S13 blacktop in a 89 coupe

Post

Hey guys,

First off - yeah I did do a search.

I have the rear end off a 1998 180sx on my 89 coupe. Why? Because it was easier to put the whole rear end on when installing the lsd that came with my SR clip. The front pads and rotors worked from a 93 Altima. The rear pads looked new so I left them alone but now its time to replace them.

The old pads do not have a clip on the either of pads on either side - it doesn't look like they fell off either cause they're in good. They are blue and look aftermarket. By 'clip' I am refering to the clip on the actual brake pads themselves that help hold them in the calipers.

I bought the OEM pads for the Altima, Maxima, and 240sx - all combinations of years and ABS, non ABS. Unless the parts guy was giving me wrong pads for the last few days, I am out of ideas on this one. All the pads I tried out had the clip on the pads - I can remove these easily but is that a safe thing to do? The clip itself is irrelevant because all the pads I tired had slightly different ends that slips onto the retaining springs / clips that hold the pads on the calipers. I am very very uneasy of puting ill fiting brake pads on my car - I can MAKE then fit, but not a snug, 'good' fit.

I appreciate any help on this matter as I am very frustrated with this thing as you can tell.

UPDATE: I gave up and got junkyard calipers but kept these for curiousity's sake.
