If you guys with an sr20det swap in your early model 240sx had the opportunity to get a 180sx vlsd, would you go with the 180sx LSD or would you consider doing the J30 diff swap, thanks

Depends on how much power I was putting down and the application.

The j30 diff is geared slightly lower. That's good if you have enough power to overcome the sluggishness (minimal), and it's also better for highway driving because you'll be at a lower rpm. But if you don't care about that or are just concerned with acceleration, get something with the same or higher gear ratio.

The J30 differential is a differential that came out of an Infiniti J30....

Btw, only certain years bolt right up. The older models (pre 95), you have to swap the axles. Not really a big deal though.

I got a setup in the way that is a 300zx LSD Diff with J30 axles. I was told the gear ratio is close to the stock 240 diff. The bolt patterns on the output shafts and the 240 axles are different, and the 300zx axles are too long for the 240. Thus the reason for the J30 axles. The 300zx diff will not bolt right up to the 240 subframe BUT the stock diff cover fits the 300zx diff. I can't wait to get it

Hmm I dunno the J30is a 13 tooth Pinion I think while the S-Chassis is a 12 tooth Pinion.

Difference is 3.92 t0 4.08 its not a whole lot.

well at any rate the final drive isnt that much off, so basically whichever casing you can get for less

its viscous, its gonna wear out anyways
