Does anybody know where I can get a 180mph speedo for a s13? I saw them in either "sport compact car" magazine or "super street" magazine I beleive, but I attempted to search through my magazines to no avail.

think the european equivalent of the 240sx, with a ca or sr, has a 180mph speedo, but you gotta find out how to calibrate it.

do a search on nico or fresh alloy, and you should find acouple threads about converting a 180km jdm speedo to into a usdm 180mph one. however unless your making enough power to warrant it, is it really worth it? i have a friend who was putting out 400+ hp, and his speedo would peg in second gear, and STAY THERE. He needed it. Do you?

If you're lazy you can go to lsauto dot com... they sell a calibrated 180mph speedo for like $100 + working core.

flohtingPoint, any way you could snag one of those speedometers and send it my way? I'd be VERY interested in it.

Like masticatingcow said you could just pick one up from ls atuo (http://www.lsauto.com/products.asp), they even have a great write up on how to install it.

I can dig around for ya. I've been looking for a 4 port CA head for madscientist for quite some time, wouldnt mind throwing in a speedo request too. 200's arent quite abundant in junkyards as they were last year around this time, so I'll see what I can do.

Somehow I doubt that your friend was pegging the 110mph speedo in 2nd gear, since I'm putting down close to 400hp and I don't peg the speedo till the end of 3rd. Unless your friend converted to a chevy 2 speed, I call BS until I see a video. I don't care how much power you have, the gearing just isn't realistic to peg it in 2nd.

yeah, i have the speedo. i got tired of burying it to 115mph and not know what was going on after that, that and stupid people actually believing i could hit 125 in like 6 seconds (when it was kph)lsautomotive, regaurdless of what some say, there is no core required. easy to install. the only oddity is your odometer and tripometer is still kilometers.

They used to like a core, but that's cool if they don't. I think it's kind of weird that the odometer would still run kilometers... oh well, probably not a big deal, right?

srpowered240sx, glad to see someone else rollin' with Buddha. Props.

from the passenger seat thats what i saw, ask fiznat abought it, im sure he can give a more accurate discription of how useless his speedometer was. bottom line, you dont really need a 180mph speedo unless youre making serious power...

You can't even reach 180mph on stock gearing can you?

if you have a 25" tall tire like a 225/50-16 and an automatic you'll hit 180 at about 6900 rpm in 4th

with a manual you'd need to be at 7900 in 5th

that's with stock ka trans gears and stock 4.083 rear end.

no, you guys are right, who really goes 180mph, but i have hit about 145mph a few times, and wouldnt have had any reference over 115mph, so it works for me. the buddha has been in for about 3 years, and has brought quite a bit of good luck.
