ok i'm in the market for an alternator since mine went sour so i was going to get it tested and rebuilt but know these guys in the bahamas their probably going to over-charge me so i was online looking for one and i found and ebay "180 amp" alternator....now i've heard the TT alternator can work just fine and it's slightly stronger (90amps) and i was going to go with that so i was wondering if anybody else has seen these 180 amp alternators

I have a Bosch 200A alternator on my car. I honestly wouldn't go with anything other than name brand on an alternator. That's one thing that, if it goes bad, you are stranded. End of story. Not to mention the alternator belt is the very back belt on the crank pulley, so everything else has to come off if it does go bad. Way too much hassle to be put to chance by buying from some off-brand company to save a few bucks.

Some are, but they are also one of the most trusted names in the Automotive industry. Also comes with a two year warranty. They're also tested to exceed (not just meet) OEM standards for both output and longevity.

I have a remanufactured one on my car, and have been driving a JL 500.1 at max output for about 5 years now as a DD. I'm pretty confident in recommending them for someone else.

I'm prbably going to be picking another one up pretty soon. My TT has had a scratchy-rattly-almost like an exhaust rattle sound but more rotational, so I was hoping the turbos weren't scraping the housings-type sound, and I finally pulled it on the lift the other day, and did the "mechanic's stethoscope" and found it was the alternator. Guess what I'mm be doing along with my 120k service? :D
