18 x 8.5" +20 wheel fitment?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey all,

My EX is mainly my winter/camping/activity vehicle, so I wanted to get some nice 19" or 20" wheels for my winter tires. That said, a great deal for some 18" Hakka's came up and I bought them. So now I'm trying to find a set of 18" wheels for cheap so I can have 2 full sets.

A cheap set of cheap Ions popped up locally that I thought could look good on the EX. Only thing is the offset is +20. I come from Subaru's which require a high offset, as does my s2k. I think I read that the EX can be a lot more lenient, but I couldn't find how low I could go without rubbing. Does anyone know what that magic number is? The size of tires I'd be mounting are 235/55/18.

Thanks!

Well, you'll want to find out what your OEM specs are, including offset, then go from there. Here's a link to my favorite tire calculator. It will show you how the tires and wheels move in the wheel well and if they'll rub the suspension or fender when you start changing numbers. You can even put in actual measurements for the suspension and fender and wheel well to get even more accurate depictions...

Thanks, that's a cool site. Not sure what values to put into the suspension area, but offset wise it seems like they'll fit. It'll be close though...
