I did a search and could not find anything useful. I have a 91 240 hatch and want to put 18" wheels on it. I want to be sure what wheel offset to get and wheel width. I also want to know the bigest size tires that will fit with stock suspension and how coilovers will affect the fit. I have put 255/40/17 on back and they fit nicely, and i imagine a 265 would fit too, maybe 275 but i think 255 or 265 for rear would be fine. I have several sets of wheels i can use to drift with or drive through bad weather in but i want a nice set to putt around in. I have seen 235/45/17 on a s13 and 180 in japan, but i do not know any specifics of the offset etc...Hopefully people here are more accepting than freshalloy. I was flamed for my question there. Thanks in [email protected]

18x? front18x? rearoffset? F + Rtire size F + R

Thanks

well, ya might get flamed here too...this forum is for the most part a go, not show kinda place...and the 18's are gonna slow ya down by reducing the final drive ratio (this is not a good thing) although I guess you would gain a LITTLE top end speed if you had the power to get you up there. Personally, I'd go with nothing bigger than 17's and I'm planning on nothing more than 16's.

Yeah, I understand, but until I put my sr turbo in I do not plan on going fast. My ae86 will pretty much keep up with this KA dog now (here comes the flames now...) But I plan on rolling around with thr 18's normally and put on 16/s if I decide to do other things...ight now the car is not capable of much except looking decent...ThanksGregg

HI! welcome to NICO. glad to see you've searched. Unfortunately, there really isnt any reason to goto 18" wheels except for "show". I dont reccomend it, both from a handling, and a cost standpoint.

anyways, if you want to do 18"" anyways...Use the offset calculator in the FAQ, to clear coilovers you have to keep it less than 5mm closer to the strut than a stock wheel. If you were to run a 18x8 front wheel, I would reccomend below a 33mm offset. For the rear, a 18x9 in a 27mm offset should be fine. Try running a 225-40-18 and a 255-35-18. That setup is very effective, and proivdes plenty of grip in the rear, even for higher-HP applications.

TO be honest, I want to flame you really, relaly bad, mostly because I dont like "FAst and furious" type people who just want the look...but its your car, do what you want. Please looka round, theres more information in the FAQ than most people think.-chet

Exar-Kun--I thank you for the information. You can want to flame me all you want, I really do not care. I asked a simple question and was hoping for an answer, not an opinion, but I can handle being flamed too. I used to be amused at 180sx/silvias. I owned a z32 tt fairlady Z when I lived in Japan. I owned a 90 model in 1996. It had 245/45/17 and 265/40/17 on it. I saw many s13's with similar setups (235/45/17 and 255/40/17 on them). I do not want to be like TFATF I want a car i am happy with. I am now arranging a sr turbo and other goodies for my soon to be 180sx. I will probably have it completed this fall since I am currently working hard to finish my AE86. Please do not try to assume anything about me. I tried to use search and did not find what I was after. I guess you probably get lots of posts with "yo i want da bomb dubs on mah car yo" or whatever. I see posts on club 4ag often..."looking for panda trueno, willing to go 20 miles to get it, hopefully under $800" I am not like that. I have an oppertunity to recover some money owed to me and thought it would be nice to get new wheels.
