are 18's too big? it would be nice to run 235/40/18 on a coupe or is this overkill? like some nice rota d2's or so and if anyone has a pic that would be great. 18x9's btw idk if they would fit without rolling and pulling with a 35mm offset on all 4

18" aren't that big for s13s but 18x9 with a 35mm offset won't fit up front.

18x9.5 +12 I think

18s are perfect for a street driven 240sx. Idk why people think they're too big.

OP you can fit an 18x9 with just a roll and lots of camber, no pull.

I like staggerd 17x9 upfront and 18x10 in back on stock fenders. Do it. Do it now.

Staggered with 17's & 18's...

18's all around...

I think most ppl believe 18's are too big for two reasons:1) For every increase in wheel diameter, the general rule of thumb is that you should decrease your tire profile to match. Most people aren't comfortable going lower than a 40 profile tire, which 18's would require on an s13. The lower profile your tire is, the harsher the ride quality is.

2) The 240's speed sensor draws info from your front wheels, I believe. So, if your wheel/tire combo's total diameter is bigger than your original diameter, your speedo will not be accurate.

Oh, and don't forget... tires for 18's are more expensize than tires for 17's...

WTF? I'm pretty sure the 240 gets it's speed readings from the rear wheels because the speed sensor is in the transmission which powers the REAR WHEELS

You know what? Duh! Of course it's in the rear wheels... I remember someone telling he the front wheels relayed info to the speedo, but thats obviously wrong for an FR...

So apparently, there's noway to aviod an inaccurate speedo w/ 18's...

A 40 profile isn't too big. That's what I run on my s13.

I have room for more too.

Not too big in the sense that it won't fit, but it is bigger than the original wheel/tire diameter.

Have you checked your speedo's accuracy since you went with these sizes?

Of course, some ppl don't care about that stuff, or decreased fuel mileage or more expensive tires... But they are just things to consider.

No no no... Anything less than 9 inches wide in the front is dumb.

Are you wanting to stretch your tires or run max rubber? This will determine what widths and offsets you want...

If you have your heart set on 18's for your s13 with minimal stretching, I'd say go with 18x9+22 245/35/18 & 18x10+35 265/35/18.

Thats almost exactly what I'm gonna run, except I'll have 17's up front. Very similar to what Broadfield used to run, as well...

Sure there is - Retain the original OD of the tire.

195/60/15 = 24.2" OD (205/60/15 was standard on the SE an convertible models, with an OD of 24.7").

I run a 285/35/18 rear, which = 26" OD, so I'm only off by 1.3", or 40 less revolutions per mile.

Consider that most older car speedos are fairly inaccurate anyway, and you're not looking at that big of a difference (especially if the OP decides to run a more "normal" 18" tire).

No because it only works half the time.

I have a JDM 180kph speedo in my car.

Between the changed rear diff ratios, the 5-speed swap, the incorrect speedo drive gear, and the altered tire size, it's all confused.

Speedometers are the most useless gauge in a car anyway.

op just go herehttp://tyrestretch.com/this site has alot of setups if you want to see what a stretched set up looks like or if you have a tire size and rim width in mind look here and see if they have that set up so you can see what it looks like.

As I indicated in my first post, I'd rather not use 18's or 35 series tires. But I don't think they look as bad as you two make it seem and they keep you closer to your original diameter. The OP said he's going for non-stretched.

245/40/18 fronts and 275/35/18 rears.
