I was reading through the post on this forum and I have a question concerning the 02 Q45 wheels. Would they fit a 1st gen Q and what would be the pros and cons?

DimensionsDiameter: 18"Width: 7.5"Offset: 45 millimetersBolt pattern: 5 x 114.3 (also known as 5 x 4.5)

Any info would be apreciated.

Hello kotex,

I don't have a technical answer but I do have a pic, compliments of jefftrexler, of a 1st gen Q with 02 wheels.

Just about any OEM Infiniti wheel will fit on early Q45.

Good tool (using tire sizes): http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I think 18" rims would look great! Check out tirerack's site. You can place wheels on a actual 1st gen Q. Not exact but it will give you an idea of what it might look like.

I wonder if one can fit a tire with the correct rolling circumference, speed rating, and load rating to fit on this rim? It is only 7½" wide.

Actually with the 2k2 Q45 rims and a set of 225/40R18's you'd be at a stock overall diameter of the OEM 15" wheel and tire. Just make sure ya get some good VR, YR or ZR rated tires and you should be just super. :D

Hard to find adequate load index the larger diameter you go.Remember the later Q weigh 200-300 pounds less than a 94-96 which was very marginally tired with a 95V vs the 3950 pounds of the 90Q.

Under the new government proposed tire standards the 90Q would have had to be upgraded from a 95 to a 97 just to be sold.the tire industry wants manufacturers to use 85% vs the current 88% of peak load rating and the psi would have had to be increased from 29 to 34 psi COLD to just comply on a 97 rated tire!

See why I* am constantly SHOUTING about cars being UNDER TIRED for safety.

Luckily the tire manufactures are scared and quality control has been stepped up............those that died on Firestones and others hopefully saved 100 times the number.

Most 18" tires are UNDERRATED BY 150 to 300 pounds EACH from the minimum 1521 pounds REQUIRED BY A 90-96Q even when inflated to 51 psi cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tire wear and safety is directly a function of how much extra reserve you have in your tires!!!!!!!!
