I just got a set of 04 G35 wheels dirt cheap. got them home and found they are all the same width. theyre the seven spoke type. can I run these on the front of a 91 Q with 245 rubber or will they stick out too far past the fender? they dont have tires on them and the guy said he had them on a maxima (didnt say what year) with 245 tires. did a few searches and it looks like what I got was 4 rears instead of a staggered set. any ideas?

further inspection shows 8" width on all four and the same offset but two have "front" cast into the back of the spokes and two have "rear". what difference would it make if they all took the same tire? 225 rubber is too narrow for an 8" rim right?

225 is a little narrow, but 235 should work.

Are you sure about the offsets?

yes, measured all four and got the same thing. the only thing I can figure is that the fronts might be clearenced for the brembo calipers on the back of the spoke and nissan put 225's on the front and 245's on the rear to keep people from accidently swapping them and scraping the calipers. I got on tire rack and a 225 width will fit up to a 8.5" wheel, Im just concerned about putting too wide a wheel and it either scraping/rubbing on the inside or sticking out past the fender and looking bad. Im going to test fit one this morning and see if it will even work w/out a tire on it.

The offset should be noted on the inside of the wheel. If not, measure.

Don't know why they would machine half the wheels when Nissan could have made all wheels clear any caliper.

These are 18 x 8 +30 front and rear. They will fit fine on stock fenders, stock height.

18x8 is the only measurement cast into the back of the spokes.

Usually there is another number somewhere ile 30 (mm) as suggested above. as aggressive as you can get 245/45 may rub up front.

A lot of G's came with Bridgestone Potenza 225/40-45/18's.

It got moved, as the conversation in it turned into some "life style" bashing.

I'll see if we can get it cleaned up and restored.

I bought a set of G35 rims and strangely enough, when I went to have my rims and tires mounted, the tire guy swore that I got 4 rears or 4 fronts. He thought they should be staggered also.

I have 245/40/18 on my stock height Q and they fit fine. Actually, I would say they fit perfectly, the offset and the size really fill out the wheel well nicely.

With the dark, blackout wheel, it looks like a police/fire/taxi/government sedan.....they all have dark/black wheels with no shiny trim on them in order to keep the cost low

If the wheels come from a sedan G35 (not sure about the new 07), they are all the same. If it comes from a coupe, they are staggered.

I bought rims from a coupe and they are in fact 18x8 all around. Two are stamped REAR and two are stamped FRONT, but I couldn't find a difference between the two sets.

The tire sizes on a stock G35 coupe are staggered, but the rims are not. Front tire size is 225/45/18, while the rear is 245/45/18.

It doesn't really make sense to stagger the tires on a stock Q, because it already has a tendency to understeer.

Not many people are conversant enough with tires and their suspension to understand that.

Yes! The offsets were 30 and 33mm, although the widths are the same, as I recall, for those years. The 2008 model year may have gone to the same offset, but then what would be the point of marking them different from front to back?

In aftermarket sale situations, it is possible that the seller mixed together some wheels for this situation ... and sent 30mm for all four wheels.

Okay. I'm in.

The front and rear seven spoke 18x8 2003-07 G35 Coupe wheels all have an offset of +30mm.

Two were stamped "front" to assist tire installers with getting the staggered tire sizes of 225/45 and 245/45 on the cars correctly.

I can only imagine how well this worked (not really) with some of the cars that I've seen at a few dealerships. The most recent example being a late model E-Class Benz.

On the left, 245/40-18. Both front and rear. On the right, 265/35-18. You guessed it, front and rear.

But a RWD car looks so much cooler with huge tires on the back, everybody knows that.

I actually had wanted to get a staggered set and do something like 19 in back/18 in front to give it a more aggressive stance. I didn't cotton to the idea of being potentially SOL in the event of a flat though and carrying two full size spares of differing diameters didn't sit well with me either.

Plus, with more time logged on the board, I've come to the assumption that doing something like that would possibly be a little foolish and dangerous on the stock suspension. I'm not an expert, or even the least knowledgeable in suspension mechanics, but I have a gut feeling that it's not recommended.

I'd appreciate it if someone would give me a definitive answer to flesh out my reasoning on the subject.

The idea behind staggered is different widths, but essentially equal diameters. So, 2 spares wouldn't be necessary.

Few (if any) actually drive their Q's hard enough "day to day" to really see any benefit (or detriment) from a staggered set-up.
